Background

One of the newest members of the Aldar Academies family of schools, the Al Mushrif Primary School opened its doors in September 2011. Although new to the scene, the school’s reputation has benefited from that of the Aldar group. Al Mushrif offers an identical British-style curriculum to its sister schools, from the Foundation Stage (kindergarten) through to Year 6. The school currently shares facilities with the Al Bateen Secondary School, although there are plans to move to another location sometime after 2013. The facilities are world-class and include a sports hall, dance studio, swimming pool, basketball court, Astroturf pitch, drama studio, library, canteen area and performance hall. Al Mushrif pupils also share Al Bateen’s specialist teaching areas for ICT, Art, Science and Music.

What the school says

We aim to place Al Mushrif School at the heart of our local community within Abu Dhabi. We have the highest expectations for our children and provide high quality educational provision within a stimulating and secure environment. Al Mushrif School is a learning community where all children are encouraged to see themselves as inspired and inquisitive learners and participate in their own education, within and beyond the school. Working in partnership, we hope that our learning community will develop and grow in endless directions, ultimately serving to enrich the learning opportunities for our pupils, both within and beyond the school.

Curriculum

Al Mushrif Primary follows a British curriculum, with subjects including Science, Literacy, Numeracy, History, Geography, Art and ICT. All grades follow cross-curricular, creative thematic units where key elements are delivered through each subject area. In addition to a number of British class teachers, the school also employs specialist teachers for Physical Education, Music, French, Arabic and Islamic Studies.

Fees

The yearly fees for FS1 to Year 6 are 43,560 dirhams (about $11,850 or £7,455), payable in three equal instalments before the start of each term. There is also a non-refundable application fee of 500 dirhams.

From the head teacher

"We are delighted that you are considering Al Mushrif School for your children’s education. We work very hard with families to ensure children thrive; academically, socially and physically.

Your children’s teachers will work tirelessly to ensure your children learn what they need to in order to make the necessary leaps in their learning. When families are involved in their children’s school life our work is more effective- rest assured there will be many opportunities throughout the year for you to be involved in your children’s learning.

Having fun is also very important to us at Al Mushrif School. We work thoughtfully and creatively to ensure that your child’s learning is engaging and meaningful. We will bring their learning to life through themed days, school visits and by welcoming expert visitors into school. A comprehensive and detailed programme of extra-curricular activities enriches our school curriculum, giving students the opportunity to experience a range of activities and excel in different fields.

We expect all involved in our school community- staff, families and children to aspire to be the best they can be, and support them in achieving this. Our school values of Confidence, Respect, Positivity, Aspiration, Integrity, and Trust are central in our behaviour for learning policy which informs all that we do.

We have a very well-established and effective Friends of Al Mushrif (FOAM) who meet regularly to organise and support events in the school, provide a supportive link between families and school, to create a social network for new and existing families and to raise funds for school projects and charities.

We are never complacent, always striving to improve in all that we do. As key members of our community your views are important to us; regular Principal’s coffee mornings give me the opportunity to consult with families regarding new school initiatives and improvements, and involve you in the future development of Al Mushrif school. Please come and visit and see Al Mushrif in action! You are always welcome".

– Mrs Emma Shanahan - Principal

Quotes from the parents
