School Introduction

Shafston was established in 1996 and has grown to be the largest College of its type in Australia with over 50, 000 students having attended since it's inception. The two Shafston campuses are unique, they are both located in the heart of Brisbane. The original Kangaroo Point Campus, which is centred on "Shafston House" a heritage-listed building constructed in 1851 - is located on the banks of the beautiful Brisbane River and covers an area of five-acres.

The purpose-built City Campus was constructed in 2004 and five minutes away in Brisbane’s central business district. These campuses allow our students to enjoy a true university campus experience and atmosphere with beautiful outdoor spaces as well as excellent teaching and learning facilities. Shafston also boasts one of the most diverse student populations in the country.

Shafston has superb facilities including a Gym, Computer Rooms, Cafe Renoir, Cafe Einstein, Library, Riverside Function Centre and much more. Shafston also offers on campus accommodation which incorporates 170 fully furnished and self contained riverfront apartments.

ESL Program Introduction

Shafston International College offers a range of Academic and General English programs including IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC, Cambridge exam preparation, Business English, and High School Preparation courses. Students are able to progress from Shafston’s Academic English program directly into one of Shafston’s diplomas or university pathways.

Furthermore, study tours and custom-designed intensive English Language Programs for overseas school and university groups are a specialty.

Shafston offers a very wide range of Cambridge preparation programs including all levels of the main suite exam preparation programs (PET, FCE, CAE and CPE) as well as the full suite of Cambridge Business Certificate (BEC Preliminary, Vantage and Higher) exam preparation programs. We also provides full time 10 week TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) preparation for students at Intermediate, Upper Intermediate and Advanced levels of English. As well as 10 week TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) exam preparation for students at Intermediate, Upper Intermediate and Advanced levels of English.

Starting Dates for General English:
Every Monday, if the Monday falls on a public holiday the course will start on the Tuesday and can run for as little as 1 week.
