ESL Program Introduction

West Australian English College offers students the opportunity to learn and acquire knowledge, improve English language and communication skills, frequently requested by employers worldwide or required for entry to university.

Courses offered at West Australian English College include General English; IELTS Preparation Course; Cambridge FCE Examination Course; Pronunciation Course (part-time only)

GENERAL ENGLISH
The aim of the General English course is to prepare students to improve their current English abilities in all four key language skills; reading, writing, speaking and listening. The levels offered in the General English program range from Beginners to Advanced.


IELTS and CAMBRIDGE FCE (First Certificate English) Preparation Courses
The general aim of these courses is to prepare students to sit and pass either the IELTS or FCE examination on completion of their course. It is designed to enable students to handle the main structures of the language with confidence, demonstrate a knowledge of a wide range of vocabulary and use communicative strategies in a variety of social situations.


PRONUNCIATION COURSE
This course is designed to assess and identify students’ phonetic problems; instruct students in correct pronunciation and intonation; advise students on communication techniques

Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites for the pronunciation course. Students must have the ability to comprehend instructions.
