About Bishop Druitt College

Bishop Druitt College aims to provide an excellent education for boys and girls from Kindergarten to Year 12 based on a foundation of Anglican traditions. Situated on fifteen hectares in the picturesque North Boambee Valley in Coffs Harbour the College has outstanding indoor teaching and learning facilities as well as extensive outdoor recreational areas. Our goal is to develop well-rounded individuals who have a passion for learning and will have a positive impact upon the communities in which they live and work. Learning

Underpinning the success of the College is a simple belief - we believe in the right of every student to learn and of each teacher to teach. Our College has a proud record of excellent academic results in statewide and nationally benchmarked tests and has historically produced Higher School Certificate results that place it in the upper echelon of schools in New South Wales. The Primary School has over four hundred students enrolled from Kindergarten to Year 6 with an average class size of 24. The Primary School uses the NSW Board of Studies curriculum for all key learning areas. In addition to classroom teachers specialist teachers work with students in areas including: research skills speech drama music french japanese and Learning Resource Centre programs (Gifted and Talented and services assisting students facing learning challenges)The Secondary School has classes in each year level and offers a broad choice of study programs based on the NSW Board of Studies curriculum. The College has a strong history of academic success based on recognising and nurturing the individual’s talents and providing a safe environment in which they can develop. As well as offering a thorough grounding in English mathematics science History geography personal Development Health and Physical Education awide range of electives in Technology and Applied Studies creative and Performing Arts and Languages is offered to students as they progress through the Secondary years. TVET courses are also supported in the senior years where students can incorporate TAFE studies with their HSC schedule.

Co-Curricular Program

The co-curricular program of the College provides enormous opportunities for our students to explore who they are and the gifts they possess. It includes sporting pursuits community service activities music and the arts drama public speaking debating and a highly valued outdoor education program. The co-curricular program forms an important part of life at the College. Being involved is a commitment to the College to oneself and to sharing experiences with students and teachers that might not necessarily be encountered in the daily routine. The program offers our students the opportunity to be a part of a team in an increasingly egocentric world. They encounter challenges work together to overcome obstacles and accept judgement learn to manage the disappointment of defeat and share the joys of success.
