Master of Business (MBus)

The Master of Business program is designed for current managers seeking formal qualifications and for those aspiring to middle/senior management in relevant industries. This program allows students to gain specialist knowledge in a chosen field and accelerate careers within particular businesses, or tourism and leisure management disciplines.

The Master of Business (Advanced) program allows students to complete a research component which provides a pathway to higher research or doctorate levels. Alternatively, students may complete two fields of interest or additional advanced electives in the MBus(Adv). Students broaden their general management and leadership skills.

The Graduate Diploma and Graduate Certificate of Business offer students alternative pathways to the Master of Business and Master of Business (Advanced) with specialisation in the fields of International Event Management; International Hotel Management; International Sport and Recreation Management; International Travel and Tourism Management (Stream A); or a General Business field (Stream B).

Study Opportunities:

Graduates can progress to the Masters (Advanced) or Doctorate levels.

Program Requirements:

The total units and other specific requirements a student needs to take in order to receive this award. Program requirements should be read in conjunction with the Program rules and General Award Rules.

A student must undertake the program in a field in one of the following streams:

Stream A: International Event Management; International Hotel Management; International Sport and Recreation Management; International Travel and Tourism Management.

A student undertaking a field in Stream A is required to obtain #24 from the MBus List comprising -

#8 from Part A; and

#12 from one field of study in Part B; and

#4 of advanced elective courses at level 7 or higher. These elective courses may include Part C, must be approved by the Head of the School of Tourism, and must not be similar to any courses previously passed by the student.

Stream B: Entrepreneurship; Human Resource Management; International Business; Marketing; Public Sector Management.

A student undertaking a field in Stream B is required to obtain #24 from the MBus List comprising -

#8 from Part E; and

#12 from one field of study in Part F; and

#4 of elective courses from Part G, or other courses approved by the Head of the School of Business.
