At Technical College we strive to continually provide the best facilities, learning environment and opportunities for our students. We really value our student's feedback and as a result TC's student committee was formed. Students get to contribute in an open forum and work with us to provide a 5 star environment where our student's needs are met.
When our students are in the commercial kitchen, they are required to complete a specified number of practical assessments. Once all assessments have been completed successfully, students are deemed ready to achieve this qualification and enter the workforce or continue towards completion of the remaining units required for the Diploma of hospitality Management qualification (Commercial Cookery Stream)

vehicle, and telephone. Kitchen Refrigerator, Cold storage,
Broilers-Rotisseries, Fryers, Griddle, Gloves, Oven, Ice
maker, Stainless Steel Kitchen Equipment, Barbecue Gas
Grill, Non 'stick Pan etc,
Number of staff and their qualifications and experience
20 qualified cook working at the moment. Most of them are more than 7 years
experienced cook. All of them did Diploma on Cookery.

British council is one of the largest learning institutes of its kind in Bangladesh with a well deserved reputation for excellence. Many of TC students study English at British Council prior to commencing their their Cook studies at TC.
Paul Mitchell, one of the largest hairdressing product companies in the world, has an exclusive relationship with TC to provide their unique products for students use during their training.
Many of Bangladeshi's hotels rely on the skills and expertise of TC to bring out and develop the talent of their future leading Chefs.

Students Responsibilities
Students are responsible for:
* Working seriously at their studies
* Attending and participating in all
classes and activities punctually
and explaining any absence is required to
Facilitators. A minimum of 80% attendance is required.
* Completing all assessment requirements.
* Actively seeking learning support from Facilitators
* Treating fellow students and TC staff with respect.
* Helping to maintain TC as a caring community.
* Behaving in a responsible way which acknowledges the rights of others as well as their own.
* Always working with clients to satisfy their needs at any stage during the course.
Rules and Regulations
* Students must adhere to class attendance and absenteeism procedures and telephone TC if late or absent.
* Smoking is not permitted in the building at any time.
* Students will make themselves aware of the TC refund, Complaints and Appeals Recognition of Prior Learning Policies.
* Students must be clean, neat and dressed in workable fashion. Footwear must be comfortable and presentable. Closed-in shoes must be worn at all times.
* Any students found guilty of stealing from TC or other students will be expelled immediately.
* Mobile phones must be switched off during class times. Any student found using their phone will have it confiscated for the remainder of the day.
* Students cannot leave the classroom to take phone calls. Messages will only be passed on if urgent. No students are to use TC phones. A blue pay phone is provided for students use.
* MP3 players, smarts phones, PDA's and other such electronic devices are not to be used during class times. Any students found using these during class times will have them confiscated for the remainder of the day.
* During class times students must not leave the classroom without the Facilitator's permission.
* Students will always attend to clients without question at the request of their Facilitator.
* To achieve success students should have 100% attendance. Attendance should never fall below 80%.
Disciplinary Policy
Any student who violates the TC Code of Practice which outlines the college rules and regulations will be made aware of his/her violation by way of incident Report.
If the students violate a rule or regulation that states instant expulsion as the course of action, the Director will enforce the procedure.
For breaches of other rules or regulations, three documented occurrences may cause expulsion at the discretion of the Director.
Disciplinary Procedure
Once a student violates a Rule or Regulation of the college, the Facilitator who was witness to the violation will:
* Complete on incident Report Sheet.
* For a rule requiring instant expulsion, the
report will be handed to the Director.
* The Facilitator will interview the student
* Student is to sign the Incident Report Sheet.
* Once the above is complete, a copy of the report is given to the student and the original filed in the student's file.
* The Student Training Manager will receive each incident Report.
* In the case of the second incident, the Student Training Manager will counsel the student and warn them of the consequences of a third event.
* Three such Incident Reports will be handed to the Director for a decision.
Formal Training
Provide the Facilitator with relevant formal training documents and a written description of prior competencies gained. The applicant will then complete a paper based assessment.
Work Experience
The recognition of prior learning for work experience
and/or pre-vocational training takes the same format
as for formal training. The assessment of competencies
will be both paper based and skills tested.
Life Skill Assessment
The assessment of life skills and relating to customer service and occupational learning, allied to the competencies required are assessed in the same format as formal training assessment.
What are Technical Colleges*
The Bangladesh Government is funding Technical College across Bangladesh in areas where there are skills needs, a high youth population and a strong industry base. Technical Colleges provide young Bangladeshis with the opportunity to commence their training in a traditional trade through an Apprenticeship while at the same time completing academic subjects leading to a year to a year 12 certificates.

About the Technical Colleges
The principal objective of the Bangladesh Colleges is to address the current and future skills needs of the Bangladesh economy through the achievement of a number of key goals, such as:

in trade skills training for young

* having an industry-led governing
body for each Technical College
which sets out its strategic
directions and performance objectives;
* Providing trade training that is relevant to industry and that leads to nationally recognized qualifications through Apprenticeships, and providing academic and vocational and technical education which is relevant to trade careers and leads to a year 12 certificate.
A new choice for young people
Technical Colleges are for students in year 11 and 12. Students enter into an School based Apprenticeship. Which leads to a nationally recognized qualification; study academic subjects, leading to a Year 12 certificate; and also gain IT, employability and business skills, enabling them to run their own business if they desire. they can also keep the option to go on to further study at university.
The Colleges provide an incentive for more students to stay on at school and encourage more students to pursue a trade qualification. They expand student choice by providing another pathway to a career involving trades. Facilities and educational services offered by the College are high quality, establishing them as centres of excellence in trade training, thereby raising the profile of vocational and technical education in schools and strengthening the training system as a whole. The College play an important role in expanding School based Apprenticeships, particularly in the traditional trade's areas.

The Technical College experience offers students much more
that just a pathway towards nationally recognized trade
qualifications. Students study relevant academic subjects,
ones that ensure that the link between academia and the real
world is recognized, they gain hands on skills in a real workplace
environment, real working hours and conditions and gain skills
and knowledge that allows them to start a rewarding career in
the trades and eventually run their own business.
How are Technical Colleges different from other schools and registered training organizations*
Technical Colleges are specialist schools with high quality facilities providing tuition for years 11 and 12 students where all students will undertake academic studies relevant to a career in the trades and trades-related vocational course, as well as developing employability and entrepreneurial skills. This combination, together with employment as School-based Apprentices, makes it essential that delivery of services to the students is through flexible delivery arrangements and timetables.
Industry play a pivotal role in both leading and supporting the Colleges, particularly through the governance and the employment of the students as a School based Apprentice.
The College provides students with the opportunity to pursue trades training, leading to a nationally accredited qualification, as well as complete their senior secondary education. Students at the Colleges will have the opportunity to commence a School based Apprenticeship. The Technical Colleges operate autonomously, with a governing body chaired by a local business or industry representative and involving local communities.

The Technical College mission is to:
► provide an environment where young people can gain quality education and trade training while preparing to meet industry needs for a skilled workforce;
► create and sustain partnerships across schools, Local Community Partnerships, training, further education and industry, which provide pathways for youth into building and construction, metal and engineering, automotive, electro technology and commercial cookery careers;
► promote pride and excellence in trade skills training for young people;
► ensure equitable access to all young people, irrespective of gender, socio-economic background, ethnicity, disability and geographic location, wishing to pursue a trade;
► ensure best practices in governance and management of the College;
► provide employability and business skills that enable young people to confidently and effectively take their place in the world of work; having a distinct potential for self-employment;
► Provide trade training that is relevant to industry and meets the needs of the local community and the wider Bangladesh economy.
Access, Equity, Student Selection and Admission
Every student who meets the entry requirements
as prescribed by the appropriate Training package
will be accepted into any training/assessment
program. The TC will incorporate the principles of
equity into all programs. Students have equitable
access to all programs irrespective of their
gender, culture, linguistic background, race,
location, socio-economic background or disability.
Some programs may have a limited number of
vacancies and these will be filled in chronological
order upon completion of enrolment. Admission procedures will therefore be free of discrimination, and if an individual does not meet entry requirements, all attempts are made to assist them to identify alternative courses of action.
TC's staff has been instructed in their responsibilities with regards to Access and Equity principles.
Enrolment, Induction and Orientation
TC conducts an enrolment, induction and orientation program for all students. This program reviews the code of Practice and also includes the completion of an Enrolment form and any specific needs of the individual student with regard to:
► language, literacy and numeracy support;
► venue safety and facility arrangements;
► relevant legislative requirements and accessibility;
► review of the training and assessment program and flexible learning and assessment;
► student support, welfare and guidance services arrangements;
► appeals, complaints and grievance procedures;
► disciplinary procedures; and
► recognition arrangements and Credit Transfer.
Language, Literacy and Numeracy
TC recognizes that all vocational training includes language, literacy and numeracy tasks and all the college trainers and assessors provide:
► materials, resources and assessment tools and tasks that do not require students to have language, literacy and numeracy skills of more complexity than those used in the workplace for the competencies being taugh/ assessed.
► clear models of the language/literacy/numetacy task;
► opportunities for repeated and supported practice; and
► opportunities for independent practics.
Where some students require additional practice and training TC provides language, literacy and numeracy support.

Credit Transfer
If students has obtained competency in a particular
unit of competency in another subject, the student
can cross credit this unit. Documentary evidence, ie
copy of the assessment instruments of competency
needs to be maintained in both Training areas. The
students profile needs to be noted and signed by
the Teacher/Trainer/Assessor. Students, who have
already commenced this certificate course with
another provider, can
Obtain credit transfer of units of competency completed. A Statement of Attainment or Certificate must be used as documentary evidence.
Complaints and Appeals
Should a student seek to appeal an assessment the following procedure will be followed:
Grounds for an appeal in relation to summative assessment may include:
► Insufficient evidence being considered when making an assessment decision
► A belief hat another assessor could reach a different decision.
Process for Appeals
Step 1 The student may make an informal approach to the Teacher/Trainer/Assessor
when the issue will be discussed. Documented notes will be kept. Negotiations
may result in accepted outcome.
Step 2 Should such not resolve the appeal. the student may initiate a formal appeal to
the College Director. Written details of the complaint are to be completed on
the complaints and Appeals Form. This should be given to the College Director
who will make a written reply to the issues raised.
Step 3 After exchanging these documents the parties to the dispute need to meet to
consider whether an accepted outcome has or can be reached.
Step 4 Should a positive outcome not be reached, an independent body (tow
members and a chair) will review the appeal. This body appointed by the
Principle /CEO may consist of a subject expert, teacher, member of the
leadership team, board or an industry representative. All documentation will be
provide to the appeal body that may choose to hear from the parties/
Witnesses orally.
Step 5 Outcomes of the appeals process will be documented and signed by the chari
and a copy provided to the parties and placed on the student's file.
Uniform Policy
The wearing of College uniform is the TC. As an independent
College one of the areas we pride ourselves on is dress and
appearance. It is the parents and students responsibility to
ensure students are fully and correctly attired for all College
and workplace activities.
There are three distinct uniforms at TC that all students must
wear. Only students who are dressed in complete and correctly
worn uniform will be permitted to attend class.
Tests
The teacher's responsibility is to match learning and assessment by constructing an appropriate task. Documentation of the task is critical, in terms of its positioning in the unit of work and its description. Teachers are accountable for such documentation. The test paper for a formal test at any level includes details as for Assignment Title Page.
Notes
All participants in Recognition of Prior Learning assessment are to be provided with a written report. The assessment carried out in the learning environment by at least two Facilitators and where possible a third person from the industry external to TC. The student will be asked to formally acknowledge credit transfer.
