Teacher/Pupil ratio 1:10 Founded in 1964, International School Brunei (ISB) is an English-medium, co-educational, day and boarding school seated at the foot of a virgin rainforest, tucked neatly away in the Sultanate of Brunei’s capital, Bandar Seri Begawan. Despite its many and varied student body, it retains the unique feel of a tight-knit family school. It is a home away from home for a diverse student population of over 1200; representing some 48 nationalities.

The school occupies a 22-acre site with state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities, alongside modern, well-equipped boarding accommodation to stimulate the students' development. These are supported by high quality sporting and performing arts areas.

With 150 full-time, fully qualified and experienced teachers representing 20 countries, including the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Brunei, ISB prides itself on its consistent provision of high standards of teaching at all levels of education. Instruction is based around the National Curriculum of England and Wales, after which students undertake the two-year IGCSE program in year 10 and 11, before completing the IB Diploma Programme in years 12 and 13. Results are always well above world average, placing us in the world top 20% of similar structure schools.

ISB strives to ensure that there is something for everybody; something in which all can excel. From the 25-meter FINA regulated touchpad swimming pool, 500 square metre indoor multipurpose sports hall, grass track and field, to the 350-seater auditorium and the Apple multimedia film studio centre, ISB has created an environment in which its students can discover their niche talents.

One of ISB's most distinct traits is its status as an Eco school and a long-time commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability. Not only has ISB pioneered reforestation initiatives such as the Million Trees Project, it is the only school in Borneo to have BCA approved Greenmark accreditation for the sustainable way it has been built and operated. The ISB campus is also home to a purpose-built C.A.R.E Centre (Conservation Action for Recycling and the Environment) which serves as an education and activism point for the protection of the planet. A small animal recuperation initiative, supported by the Department of Wildlife and local charities, is also indicative of its environmental credentials.

At ISB, the ethos of the school permeates through all aspects of the built environment and the people who populate it, continuously upholding the core message that 'everyone can, and will, excel'.
