An International Baccalaureate (IB) school of 310 students JrK-Grade 12, Aspengrove School is located on Vancouver Island, the most sought-after destination in Canada for international students choosing an independent school education. Our IB curriculum ensures academic rigour and excellence - 100% of our graduates receive admission to a university of their choice - in a community that also focuses on the social-emotional development of the whole child, providing experiences in and out of the classroom to grow and develop as an individual in preparation for university and careers beyond.

One of the warmest places in Canada, Nanaimo has a Mediterranean climate with dry warm summers and mild winters with an average temperature in summer of 21°C and 9°C in winter. It rarely snows and rainfall is far less than Vancouver or Seattle.

With a population of 80,000, Nanaimo is a small, extremely safe, community where students have access to all the recreational facilities of a large city, shopping, and restaurants, and only a brief 15-minute flight or ferry ride to Vancouver.

Aspengrove offers a "Family Boarding" programme. All international students live in the home of either a staff member or the parent of a current Aspengrove family. This ensures a caring environment with social and academic support from a host family who understands and actively participates in the life of our school.

Our International Students enjoy one of the most supportive, immersive, English language environments available. We limit each class to only two ELL students, ensuring hands-on support from classroom teachers and friendships with students whose first language is English. Our international programme is small by design with only about 12 students at any one time. It is driven by a desire to enrich our programme for all students. We deliver a high-quality program that families deserve, and the rich Canadian experience that students expect.
