Mount Allison is a small undergraduate liberal arts and science
university known nationally and internationally for the quality of its programs
and research. By focusing on the development of the whole person, students
experience intellectual, social, physical, and spiritual growth and development.

Students graduate with Bachelor degrees in Arts, Science,
Commerce, Fine Arts, and Music. Our flexible programs allow students to combine
degrees, majors, and minors in unique ways that may be more difficult to do at
larger institutions.
Location
Mount Allison is located in Sackville, New
Brunswick the geographic centre of Canada's Eastern Maritime provinces. We
are just a half-hour drive from Moncton's international airport and within a
two-hour driving radius of the region's major urban centres.
Campus Life
Mount Allison students are typically very involved. They choose from
over 140 clubs and societies, often find work as summer research assistants
(opportunities that are rare at larger universities), and are active socially
and academically. In our small residential community, students become familiar
with others quickly, and professors come to know you by name. With almost half
of our student-body employed on campus, international students can take
advantage of new legislation in the province of New Brunswick which allows them
to work part-time, both on and off campus, and for up to two years
post-graduation.
The intimate residential campus
is reminiscent of New England's ivy-league schools a beautiful campus with
historic stone buildings and ivy-covered walls. This intimacy, combined with a
limited enrolment of only 2250 students, allows for the familiarity that
encourages individual growth a hallmark of a Mount Allison education.

Requirements for International Students
The requirements for international
students are very broad due to differences in education systems. Each student is
assessed on an individual basis, taking into consideration academics,
extracurricular involvement, maturity, and other relevant background
information. If the student's mother tongue is not English, documentation of
proficiency must be provided:
- Successful completion of at least three years of instruction in Canada at a
secondary institution as recognized by Mount Allison University.
- Successful completion of at least 30 credit hours (or equivalent) at a
post-secondary institution as recognized by Mount Allison University where
English is the primary language of instruction.
- TOEFL score of 550 (paper test), 213 (computer test), or 79 (Internet test)
(DI Code 0939).
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.5.
- Canadian Academic English Language Assessment CAEL with an overall score of 70
and no sub-test result below 60.
- Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) by University of Cambridge English
for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). The minimum requirement is a grade of
'C'.
- Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) by University of Cambridge. The minimum
requirement is a grade of 'B'.
Students will also obtain Mount Allison's English proficiency level through
successful completion of the ESL course offered by Mount A's partner
institution, the International Language Institute in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Applications are accepted throughout the
year for both September and January admission. However, students who apply
before March 15 are automatically considered for most scholarships and
bursaries. Students may either request a paper application or can apply online.
Students usually hear back within three days of having submitted a completed
online application form. The online application fee for full-time admission is
$50.00 CAD and is available at
www.mta.ca/apply . The paper application fee is $60.00 CAD.

Scholarships and Financial Aid
With a strong and responsive scholarship
program, Mount Allison ensures that the best students are able to attend.
International students are eligible for the same scholarship and financial aid
programs as Canadian students.
In 2006-2007, 66% of the entering class received a scholarship or bursary
ranging from $500.00 to $12, 000.00 (renewable amounts). Financial aid bursaries,
based on need, are also available to students.
On-campus Housing
Over 90% of first year students choose to live in residence. While
all houses are co-ed, there are designated male and female wings in most
residences. You can also choose to live in a designated quieter section of
residence. You can request a roommate or a single room. Every first year student
is guaranteed a residence space as long as proper registration deadlines are
met.
Off-campus Housing
Off-campus housing is readily available and very accessible to
campus. Off-campus housing costs range from $60.00 CAD to $100.00 CAD per week
for boarding and $250.00 CAD to $600.00 CAD per month for one bedroom
apartments. Approximately 95% of students live within a 10 minute walk to the
campus.
Information Technology
All students have both wired and wireless Internet access. All
residence rooms, campus buildings, and classrooms are linked to the campus
network. There are a number of PC and Mac computer labs on campus, as well as
computers in the campus library. Each student at Mount Allison University
receives a computer account, which gives full access to the Internet, a personal
Mount Allison e-mail address, and computer support.
Special Services for Students with Learning
Disabilities
The Meighen Centre for Learning Assistance and Research offers
support for students with diagnosed learning disabilities. Students may also
access a number of resources through our Student Life Office including personal
and career counselling, a campus nurse, student employment information, and
academic support.
International Students
Mount Allison is working towards an international student population
of 10%. The Society of All Nations, which includes both international and
Canadian students, is a vibrant, active group on campus. With a full-time
international student advisor on staff, international students needs are
addressed, and their integration into Canadian University life is made much
easier. An international student orientation is offered for both September and
January admission.
International Involvement
Mount Allison's International Study Abroad and Exchange program offers
opportunities for students to study in various countries around the world
including Germany, France, Spain, Japan, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Canada, Canada, and China. Students may also propose independent projects that involve
an international experience and have it count as credit towards your degree.
Campus Tours
We encourage prospective students to visit our campus to truly
appreciate what Mount Allison has to offer. We invite you to visit anytime
throughout the year. However, we recommend you visit during the academic year
(September to April) to experience the campus in its true setting. Your visit
may include a meeting with an admissions counsellor, a campus tour, class
observation, meetings with faculty members or sports coaches, and staying
overnight in residence. We will do our best to accommodate additional needs or
