School Introduction
Confident in English is a small group of very experienced professionals, offering high quality personalised services in English language and Anglophone business culture. We are based in Rome.
We work principally with Italian business people and professionals between the ages of 25 and 45 who already have a good or very good command of English – good enough to read and understand the English content of our English language website, for example.
People come to us because they find that they need a higher level of fluency and confidence in English in order to succeed in their present job or to find a new job. We work with individuals and also with companies.
Our partners have a mix of academic and business backgrounds, premier qualifications and blue-chip business experience: Oxford, Cambridge, Yale, University of London, Max Planck Institute, London Business School, KPMG and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
ESL Program Introduction
At Confident in English we work with clients to help them gain confidence in conducting a wide range of business activities in English.
For example we help them have a business conversation on the telephone in English with an Anglophone (often one of the most demanding activities, both because of the absence of body language and because of sometimes subtle cultural differences), or handle social situations with Anglophone colleagues, including ‘doing small talk’.
Many clients need to make business presentations and we help them gain confidence in this (with or without PowerPoint), including developing sales pitches.
Perhaps most importantly we help our clients understand – at a fundamental cultural level – how business gets done (and doesn’t get done) in Anglophone societies, including the pace, timing, conduct and purpose of meetings and other key business exchanges. This involves helping clients read key signals in meetings, negotiate, and even write emails, letters and reports in English.

Courses start at 125 euros for a half day course in central Rome, including lunch.
Longer courses are pro-rata slightly cheaper.
