School Introduction

Portland State University is Oregon's largest and fastest growing university. PSU is a large comprehensive, public university made up of eight colleges and schools, offering more than 120 areas of study.

As Oregon's most culturally rich and ethnically diverse university, PSU welcomes students and adult learners of all ages and backgrounds.

The campus is in the heart of downtown Portland. The green, tree-lined South Park Blocks (a 153-year old city park) run through the center of the PSU campus, connecting PSU to the city's Cultural District: Oregon History Center, Portland Art Museum, and Portland Center for Performing Arts.

The PSU campus, surrounded by charming apartments, historic churches, shops, theaters, restaurants, markets, and museums, blends seamlessly with the downtown core. Excellent public transit, including light rail and the street car, bring students and visitors to the campus daily.

Behind the university are the West Hills of Portland, which include Forest Park (the largest urban park in the United States), Washington Park, the Oregon Zoo, the International Rose Test Garden, the Japanese Garden, and residential homes with spectacular views of downtown and Mt. Hood.
