School Introduction
Lessons are for individual instruction, tutorials, and private lessons. They are taught on the campus of Eckerd College or Saint Petersburg College. The setting is casual. The teacher is a master ESL teacher, Mike Miller, who holds two Master's Degrees from Penn State University where he taught English for fifteen years. He has taught ESL at Saint Petersburg College and at ELS Language Center on the campus of Eckerd College. He is also an excellent tour guide. No official certificates nor I-20s are issued. Students who are traveling on student visas use our program to supplement their official programs. Many use our tutorial service during their vacation time. Many come on tourist visas to learn English while enjoying the pleasures of fantastic Florida. Many business executives travel on business visas. All aspects of ESL are taught: conversation, presentations, listening, writing, accent reduction, business English, grammar, and American culture. Any level of English is accepted. Individual instruction is the best way to learn English. No time is wasted on areas in which you are already strong. Instruction is focused on your own needs and goals. Saint Petersburg has gorgeous beaches, shopping areas, recreational facilities, museums, music concerts, and restaurants. We understand that some students wish to learn in private lessons in a relaxed atmosphere and to experience the joys and thrills that Florida has to offer.
ESL Program Introduction
The English in Florida individual instruction program is based upon the needs and goals of each student. After an initial assessment, a program is designed to meet the student's most immediate challenges. For instance, many Japanese and Korean students are already strong in grammar, but not so in conversation. In such cases, conversation will be emphasized. Many South Americans are strong in listening and speaking but need help in accent reduction. Many business executives need development in conference and presentation skills. In private lessons we don't need to waste time on the weaknesses of others, nor is the student infected by the accents of others. You will practice reading and listening in a film series built upon vocabulary development and American idiom. Mike Miller, a master teacher, is known for his humor and his lucid presentations of the basics of English. TOEFL prep and Business English are available. ENGLISH IN FLORIDA combines serious academic learning with travel and activity. We believe that you don't need to come to the United States only to sit in a classroom and dormitory, studying all the time. You can do that in your home country. In the ENGLISH IN FLORIDA program you will experience the excitement of immersion in a new culture. Nevertheless, the English instruction provided is of the highest quality. You will need to travel on a tourist or a business visa. If you are already traveling on a student visa, you may use our service as an additional tutorial or on the vacation time the student visa provides.

STARTING AND ENDING DATES: Any time.
PRICE: $40/hr for individual instruction.
Application Fee: $100. This is non-refundable but it is subtracted from your class fee.
We will help you with your housing arrangements, or you can make your own reservations. Comfortable housing can be arranged at very inexpensive rates, but the cost will depend upon your needs and tastes.

Home stay can be arranged, but most of our students stay at an economy beach resort we highly recommend. Some, however, prefer more luxurious arrangements. Business executives often lease a condo for the comfort of their families. We will make accommodations according to the student's wishes and budget.
