International School of Busan
Situated in the southern city of Busan, close to the
famous Haeundae beach, International School of Busan is a not-for-profit
school run by a Board of Governors, catering for children between the
ages of 2 and 14 years old. Since its establishment in 1983 by the
employees of international companies, the school has offered an
international style education, enabling children to transfer to any
system in the world without detriment. The school encourages a high
level of self-confidence and esteem while at the same time fostering an
ethos of tolerance and respect.
International School of Busan is proud to be the
only CIS accredited school in South Korea and endeavours to maintain
a high standard of educational excellence through continual
curriculum review, professional development and up to date
facilities. Throughout the school, the teaching aims to use the best
educational practice and materials from around the world. To help
achieve this, the school employs well-qualified staff from the UK,
Australia, the USA, New Zealand, Korea and Columbia. At the present
time, due to increased enrolment and to provide for future expansion
of the older grades, the school is actively preparing to relocate to
a larger site by August 2005.
With specialist teachers for physical education,
ICT, Korean, Spanish and ESL, the school provides an all-round
education with emphasis also upon the arts, whether through music,
aft or the performing arts. After school, there are a wide range of
activities offered, run by teachers, parents and members of the
outside community. Students of all ages engage in regular field
trips and older students have an annual camp.
The International School of Busan year has 180
contact days and runs from late August until mid June, with the main
holiday being from mid December until the start of January.
There is an active PSG (Parent Support Group) at
International School of Busan that works hard to develop the
important social aspect of the school. With events such as coffee
mornings, discos, barn dances, games nights and a Mayfair, the PSG
plays an important role bringing together the members of the
school's international community.
