This includes the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma program. OIS caters for children of all nationalities who are in Oslo for a specific period or who intend to continue with an English language education. Non-English-speaking children receive EAL instruction. Group work and individual tuition are features of the teaching given. Year 11 is a Pre-IB year and the programme is designed to include specific elements that prepare students for the IB Diploma programme offered in Years 12 and 13. All teachers are well-qualified and experienced. Many of the staff are permanently resident in Norway. The students normally remain for an average of two/three years, though a small number go right through the school. School hours are from 08: 50 to 15: 05. The school year is from mid August to mid June. Extra-curricular activities are available, and skiing instruction is part of the Primary and Secondary programmes in winter. The school is located in a suburban area, about fifteen minutes' drive from Oslo. The Upper Secondary Section is located in a building adjacent to the main site. This includes five classrooms, a study area, common room and offices. The main facilities have been enhanced to provide extensions which include a new wing for Lower Primary, opened in January 2008. The school has also recently added a new science block and library. In addition to these there are in all 45 classrooms, two computer rooms, a kitchen for food science, a gymnasium and a music and drama room. There is adequate playground space on site and a sports field and sports hall nearby. When appropriate, reports/transcripts from the previous school must be provided.
