The British International School, Gdansk, will open in September 2007.   The school s founder is Kevin D Arcy who has worked in various schools in Australia and Ireland and in two other British international schools within Poland, and is experienced in opening a new school as Head of Secondary School.
The British International School, Gdansk generally follows the British National Curriculum.   In key stages 2, 3 and 4, Polish and French are offered as further languages.   Extra learning support of English as a second language (ESL) is also offered.   All the teaching will be done through the English language and mostly be native English speakers.
The school aims to provide a balance between academic and personal development for all children. Aspiration, respect and humility are central to the school and form the cornerstones to education in the school.
The foundations of the school are made possible by the support of the Gdansk City Government, who value the school as an important part of the integration of the international community within Gdansk and the surrounding region.
The school is a private fee-paying school available to all students aged 3 to 18 of the international community.   Fees are payable on a yearly or term basis and students can start any time of the school year, provided there are vacancies.
The school operates from Monday to Friday 8: 30 am to 3: 30 pm.   The school year starts in early September and finishes at the end of June.   There are 3 terms per year with breaks for Christmas and Easter.   The school closes for 2 months over the summer, in July and August.
Prospective parents are encouraged to contact the school director well before the opening of the school to discuss their needs to ensure that these can be catered for in September.
