School Introduction

Wits Language School (based in Johannesburg, South Africa) not only has a range of language courses, it is also part of Wits University – one of the top universities in the world. The school has strict quality requirements which ensure a high standard of language courses, up-to-date teaching methods and experienced and highly qualified teachers. Wits is situated in Braamfontein, Johannesburg. The campus is extremely secure, allowing students to safely interact in a friendly and cosmopolitan environment.

Full-time English courses are offered by the English as a Foreign Language (EFL) department. These courses are popular with students who want to study abroad in South Africa. The courses are fulltime for 7 weeks. The EFL department also has additional English courses in Medical English, English for Academic Purposes, and Conversational English. Part-time English courses are available through the English as a Second Language (ESL) department. These courses focus on improving your English reading and writing skills.

ESL Program Introduction

English as a Foreign Language – these are full-time English courses for learners who need to improve their English before going to college or university, or before starting work, as well as those who simply want to be able to socialize with confidence in English speaking environment. The General English course is fulltime for 7 weeks. The EFL department offers addition English courses in Medical English, English for Academic Purposes, and Conversational English.

English as a Second Language - part-time English courses focused on improving your English reading and writing skills. This course is to assist second language speakers with improving their performance in the workplace and therefore their chances of promotion. There are 8 courses in the ESL programme. The first 6 run over 12 weeks with 48 contact hours. Advanced English and Business English courses are 16 weeks long.
