APIS
is truly a unique institution. While we will be following the curriculum design
of the United States, our programs go far beyond an already rigorous American
program. It is our intention to create a truly international curriculum within
the context of East Asian society. Built into our curriculum is a focus on East
Asian Languages where each and every student will have the opportunity to
graduate from APIS being fluent in English and at least two East Asian languages
(Korean, Chinese, and Japanese). In addition to a
focus on languages, APIS emphasizes the curricular areas of science, math and
information technology. With Korea being one of the world leaders in information
technology, it is extremely important to take advantage of this existing
infrastructure. Each classroom will be a computer lab where every student has
access to a laptop computer linked to a high speed internet network connection.
In addition, every classroom has a smart board and video projector for the full
integration of technology in every subject. Our highly
distinguished teaching staff has been recruited from the finest universities in
North America and the world. Some of these institutions include Dartmouth, Yale,
Columbia and The Julliard School. Our teachers' expertise and training will be
one of the main reasons why our students will achieve excellence. The facilities at
APIS also provide an outstanding learning environment. Each classroom is brand
new and has been constructed with the student in mind. Within the construction
process, we have paid attention to the small details. From the classrooms
themselves to even the bathrooms, the students will find themselves in clean,
safe and secure surroundings. We have created a positive learning environment
where each student will want to be at school. All students can
learn, this is what I believe. I am a lifelong learner and consider it is our
mission to instill the love of learning in every student. When children develop
this passion for learning and feel safe in a positive classroom climate, they
will build intrinsic motivation and want to be at school and in the classroom.
This is when true learning happens. APIS is a school
that practices mutual respect, attentive listening and showing appreciation for
others. This community is a family where all members are supported and
