Learning Support Programme
Hisar School was founded by the Hisar Educational Foundation, a non-profit organization comprised of Robert College Alumni committed to providing an exemplary education to the youth of Turkey starting at the pre-school level.
Hisar's mission is to bring out the full potential of each student, starting from an early age, while educating them to become global leaders of the future. This privade, co-educational college preparatory day school opened in 1996 to kindergarteners. Adding a subsequent grade each year, Hisar School graduated its first class of seniors in 2008.
The majority of the Hisar School students are Turkish nationals from various ethnic and religious backgrounds, with a sprinkling of international students.
The Hisar School is located in Kemerburgaz, a rapidly developing suburb northwest of Istanbul and it is easily accessible from all parts of the city. The campus stretches over 23 acres with three large buildings and outdoor activity spaces.
The academic program is bilingual in nature with major instruction in Turkish and English. A second foreign language (French, Spanish or German) is mandatory for students starting in sixth grade.
The curriculum, the framework of which is mandated by the Ministry of Education, is enriched and creatively implemented to accommodate international academic standards. Manifested as High/Scope and Project-Based Learning in the primary grades, the programs centers around the constructivist approach, and emphasizes learning activities that are student-centered, interdisciplinary, and integrated with real world issues. Hisar School students are exposed to global issues and multi-culturalism not only through the curriculum, but also through extra-curricular activities.
As a natural outcome of the school's high educational standards, AP level English, French, German, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Math and Computer Science are offered.
A variety of co-curricular and extracurricular activities targeting student interests and talents is offered at each level.
Hisar School encourages its students to approach their social service responsibilities with serious commitment.
High school students are required to complete an internship in a career area in which they are interested in order to better determine their aims for the future.
This wide range of activities ensures that over the years spent at the school, students are exposed to a myriad of enriching opportunities.
The school strives to achieve its mission of “discovering and developing our true potential”.
