School Introduction

The Centre School of English is a small, friendly language school situated in a safe, car-free zone in the middle of Bournemouth and only a few minutes walk from the beach, gardens, taxis and bus stops. There are lots of shops and cafes close to the School, as well as restaurants, pubs, theatres, multi-screen cinemas and beautiful parks.

Do you like sports? Golf, tennis, tenpin bowling, football and cricket are available nearby. If you like doing less energetic things, we regularly arrange our own private school excursions, visits, class meals, video/dvd evenings, pub tours and parties...but you might have to dance at the parties.

ESL Program Introduction

All our teachers are native English speakers and are fully qualified, experienced professionals who love teaching - they will do everything they can to help you improve your English while you are with us. And remember, we can help you whatever your level - beginner, pre-intermediate, intermediate, upper intermediate, advanced...or somewhere in between.

We have Cambridge IELTS, FCE, CAE and CPE examination courses, General English and Business English, Medical English and English for Travel and Tourism (special Management modules are available on our Business, Medical and Travel Courses, and Easter, summer and winter holiday courses for juniors. It is possible to have One-to-One tuition on many of our courses and if you want to study at a British University, we also have a University Foundation/Academic Year Programme available (we will then help place you at the university of your choice).

You can study full-time or part-time on our General English, Business English and IELTS courses - but 15 hours a week is the minimum for visa students.

At the Centre School of English, we keep our class sizes to a maximum of 10 students, which gives each student in the group a very good chance to speak for a long time. Some language schools in Bournemouth have much larger classes - often as many as 20 students - and that usually means the students there only get to speak for one or two minutes each day - and that's no way to improve your speaking and listening skills.

Schedule & Fees

You can join our courses on any Monday throughout the year, but remember that each course (beginners, intermediate, etc) is designed to last 8 weeks, so if you have fixed dates on which you can travel and study, you may be joining a class halfway through the course.

Course fees start at £75 a week, but with our Discounted Prices and Special Offers, it's possible to study at the Centre School of English for only £25 a week (and for long-term students staying for 48 weeks, the price drops to about £15 a week).

There is a £100 Deposit and a £25 Enrolment Fee to pay.

Student Course Books (such as Headway, English File, etc) and worksheets are INCLUDED in our prices.

Accommodation and meals with a host family is about £85 a week. You should also bring enough spending money with you to England to cover additional expenses such as bus fares, entertainment and shopping. We think you should allow about £50 a week (then, if you have any money left at the end of your course, you could buy something nice for your family when you go home!).

Housing/Accommodation Info

Host family accommodation is about £85 a week. A room in a small hotel is about £140 a week and a small one-room bedsit would cost about £60 a week
