American Community School, EghamThe American Community School (ACS), founded in London in 1967, now educates more than 2, 300 students on three suburban campuses, the largest American-international school system in the UK. ACS Egham, which opened in 1995 and is a non-sectarian co-educational day school for grades pre-school - grade 12, is accredited by NEASC and authorized by the IBO. Approximately 50% of the student population is from the US with 30 other nationalities represented. The curriculum is designed to promote acceptance at North American, European and other colleges and universities and to facilitate the transition of students from one American-international school to another. The school follows an American curriculum with the International Baccalaureate Primary Program in Pre-school - grade 5 and the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program in grades 6-10 and the IB or Certificate Diploma available in grades 11 and 12. The curriculum also leads to the American High School Diploma. College counselling is available to High School students. With a maximum class size of 16 students, the school encompasses an individualized approach to learning and a variety of assessment methods. Teachers at American Community School (ACS) are university graduates with certificates and qualifications in the grade or subject for which they are responsible. Continuing professional development is a high priority and is supported with a Professional Development Allowance for every teacher and school-wide presentations and seminars with renowned educational consultants. Most students are involved in a variety of activities such as team sports, Student Council, Model United Nations, yearbook, band, and choir. The American Community School (ACS) is set in 16.6 acres of landscaped grounds on the edge of Royal Windsor Great Park, south-west of London.
