In most recent Ofsted report, all judgements relating to the sixth form were deemed 'outstanding'. For over 20 years Impington International Sixth Form has been at the forefront of innovation in education in its delivery of the IB Diploma Programme, a course recognised by the British Higher Education Statistical Agency (HESA 2011) as superb preparation for university. We are genuinely international. Students join us from the local area of Cambridge, wider regions of the UK and from approximately 15 other countries. Such a rich mix of cultural perspectives enables our students to develop a sense of their international identity and take their place in the global forum. Our curriculum and our creativity, activity, service programme, demonstrate the opportunities that students have to engage practically with these ideas, for example in our partnerships with Menelik Education schools in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, Peace Child India in Bangalore and our latest venture with Link Ethiopia. Former student, Robert Mann, highlights the positive impact that this global ethos has had on his personal and career development. (Cultivating a global outlook for the global economy, The Development Education Association, 2011) Impington also offers IB Careers Programme (IBCP), A levels, BTECs, The Performance School, and, for Post-16 students with learning difficulties, the IDEAL course. The Performance School continues to attract large numbers of extremely talented artists, many of whom proceed to specialist colleges and training centres for professional work. Within The Performance School students can combine IB dance - a specialism of our sixth form - with IB theatre, IB film, or A level qualifications in drama, performing arts, media studies, digital photography and music technology. Since September 2013 Impington has offered the ground-breaking IB Careers Programme, enabling talented students to excel in a vocational as well as academic post-sixteen experience. | ||||||||||||||||||
