Malvern Girls' College

Malvern Girls’ College is a British independent girls’ school with an international outlook. Founded in 1893, the College provides an enriched boarding school education for girls from the age of eleven. Situated in Malvern, one of the most attractive areas of Britain at the foot of the Malvern Hills, the Malvern Girls' College is less than one hour from Birmingham and two hours from London airports.

The Malvern Girls' College school year runs from September to the beginning of July. The College follows a programme of studies based on an enhanced English National Curriculum. Girls are prepared for a wide range of GCSE and 'A' level examinations, with a strong emphasis placed on educating the whole person and realising each individual’s potential. This is achieved through excellent instruction by well-qualified and enthusiastic staff in small classes. A wide variety of extracurricular activities are available after school and at the weekends.

The current total enrolment of approximately 360 students includes girls from 25 different countries. All members of the College belong to one of the six boarding houses, which include one Junior House, three Middle School houses and two Sixth Form Houses.

The Malvern Girls' College facilities are attractively located in some thirty acres of land. They include extensive classrooms, laboratories and specialist areas for art, drama, music, technology and computing. A new Science Education Centre provides excellent facilities for the teaching of the sciences and mathematics.

The College has been awarded the Sports Council's Sportsmark Gold Award for its physical education provision in teaching more than twenty-one sports. Facilities include an indoor sports centre, swimming pool, squash courts, tennis courts, astro-turf games pitch and extensive playing fields.

With a strong musical tradition, and a special centre for music, more than three-quarters of pupils play at least one instrument. Further opportunities are available in the College orchestras, ensembles, jazz bands and choirs.

The Malvern Girls' College is accredited by the Independent Schools’ Council as well as being a member of the Boarding Schools’ Association (BSA) and the Girls' Schools Association (GSA). Admission is by the College’s own examinations, or through Common Entrance. Limited entrance scholarships are available for outstanding academic excellence, art, music and physical education. Some Bursarial assistance is available on request. Financial incentive is offered to girls joining the college at 11+ and 12+ as boarders.
