School Introduction

Students from all over the world come to Rennert Bilingual for our small classes, outstanding instructors, and innovative programs, all just a few blocks from the United Nations in the heart of Manhattan. Founded in 1973, we are certified by the New York State Department of Education and are a founding member of I.A.L.C. (International Association of Language Centres), which comprises more than 60 high quality, independent language schools worldwide. Each IALC school conforms to rigorous criteria for operation and a comprehensive code of ethics.

Our Intensive English Program consists of 20 or 30 hours of instruction per week in a class with a maximum of 10 students. The Intensive Executive English provides working professionals with 30 hours of Business English instruction per week in a class with a maximum of 5 students. In addition, Rennert Bilingual offers Junior and Executive Internship Programs, the "plus English" Program (Dance/English, Filmmaking/English, Acting/English, Computer/English), a TOEFL preparation course, a Cambridge First Certificate Preparation course and electives such as American Culture, Film, and Pronunciation.

Rennert Bilingual provides its students with more than just exceptional English instruction. We organize room and board with homestay families or in residence halls, and all students are welcome to participate in the numerous cultural activities we offer each week. We make it easy for everyone to take full advantage of everything New York City has to offer.

About our Teaching Methods and Courses:
Target skills: Speaking, Reading, Listening, Writing with emphasis on verbal communication.
Teaching method/approach: "R.E.A.L" English- The Rennert Experiential Approach to Languages: Communicative, student centered-approach (teacher talking time 15%, student talking time 85%), only target language (English) used in the classroom.
Language components: Grammar, pronunciation, syntax, writing, spelling, pragmatics, common usage of slang and idioms.

Our teachers are all native English speakers, highly-qualified with a keen sense of cultural diversity, university educated (most in pedagogy), communication facilitators, open-minded and responsive to students and their needs, experienced with different cultures, familiar with the challenges and subsequent rewards of full immersion in a new and unfamiliar culture and language.
