School Introduction

Global Village Hawaii is conveniently located in the middle of an exciting entertainment area that has shops and restaurants of all price ranges. The school is located in a modern building across the street from a major bus center and Ala Moana Shopping Center. The beach is also only a few minutes walk away. Students can check the waves from the window of the student lounge before going to the beach.

ESL Program Introduction

The General English Program allows students to communicate better in English. Students can improve their listening, speaking, writing, and structure. This program offers 8 levels so students of all levels, from beginner to advanced, will be able to find a class in which they can improve their English. Each day students spend about 2 hours learning grammar and about 2 hours practicing listening and speaking. The grammar is taught in a communicative way so that students can use it in real life situations and not just in a book. The listening and speaking classes also focus on English that can be put to use right away.

The TOEFL program at Global Village Hawaii prepares students for the TOEFL. The GV Hawaii TOEFL program uses the most recent texts and teaching techniques so that students who take part in this course can succeed on the TOEFL. Global Village Hawaii also has a modern computer room and students practice for the test on our computers so that they will be ready when they have to take the computer based TOFL. Counseling is available for students who want to go on to college or university and many students at GV Hawaii have done so.

The Global Village Hawaii Business English Program prepares many students from around the world to use English in everyday business situations. Students build their business vocabulary, improve their business writing, practice speaking in business situations, and improve their listening when it comes to businesses matters. Students also engage in projects and tasks to get a feeling of how to use their newly learned English in a meaningful way. Because Global Village has students from around the world, students also get the chance to exchange business ideas while they practice their English.

The Cambridge Program prepares students to take the Cambridge tests. The Cambridge tests are used by European companies and universities like the TOEFL and TOEIC are used in the USA and Asia. Students who are interested in getting a job or studying in Europe should think about joining the Cambridge program. GV Hawaii is a great place to join a Cambridge course because almost all of the students in the course are European and because students who take a Cambridge course at GV Hawaii students have a very high success rate on the Cambridge test.
