School Introduction
Bloomfield College, founded in 1868, is an independent, four-year, liberal arts college. The college and surrounding area has the feel of a New England village. Yet New York City is just 12 miles East--easily accessible by car, train, or bus. It’s an easy area to live in, especially as an international student. The cost of living is low, and the local residents are warm and friendly. With New York City so close by, you have direct access to the best the USA has to offer. Students at the American Language Center improve their English proficiency quickly because they feel comfortable and challenged in their environment.
ESL Program Introduction
The intensive English program at the American Language Center is known for its experienced and attentive faculty. Our instructors, all of whom hold advanced degrees, are dedicated to helping you meet your needs and interests. At the ALC, we specialize in small classes and individual attention. Our average class size is 6 students; our maximum number is 8 student per class. We offer 6 levels of ESL instruction and programs in TOEFL preparation, business English, the arts, and technology. For no additional fee, the ALC also features state-of-the-art computer and media labs, a tutoring center, conversation program, and activities program.
