School Introduction

The International Center for Language Studies (ICLS) is located at Husson College in the state of Maine in the scenic northeastern region of the U.S. The area is famous for its natural beauty and many international visitors come to enjoy Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, located one hour by car from Husson College. Boston, Quebec City, and the Canadian maritime provinces are a few hours driving time from Bangor. Maine's scenic coast and mountains offer excellent recreational activities during all seasons of the year. Bangor is a small, safe, and friendly New England city and was selected "best small metropolitan area in the U.S.". Husson is fully accredited and offers Bachelor's and Master's degree programs in business and health professions.

ESL Program Introduction

ICLS classes meet for five hours a day, from Monday through Friday, for each of the four-week sessions. During each four-week session one level of English is completed. All instruction is in English. During the 100 hours of class at each level, students will learn speaking and pronunciation skills, grammar, writing skills, reading, and listening comprehension. Language laboratory practice is a regular part of the program. Students begin at the English level that best meets their needs; on arrival placement examinations are given to all students so that they begin at the appropriate levels of study. The ICLS certificate is accepted at Husson and meets the English proficiency requirement for admission so that no TOEFL is required.
