The New America College (NAC) specializes in teaching intesive English Language Acquisition, English for a Specific Purpose (ESP) - Business Administration, IELTS Preparation, and TOEFL Preparation Certificate to international adult learners .

ESL Program Introduction

Summer Class

Intensive English as Second Language

June 14 - July 21, 2011
Tuesdays and Thursdays
9:00 - 12:00 noon
Cost: $150

The New America College is offering an intensive English as a Second Language (ESL) course for students who want to improve their English during the summer months. This class is open to all levels of English language learners.

During the summer course you will be able to:

- Enhance your English conversation/fluency
- Learn new vocabulary
- Develop your reading and listening skills
- Improve your grammar
- Learn ways to reduce your accent
- Improve your pronunciation

This class will be taught by a certified English as a Second Language instructor.

English for a Specific Purpose

ESP - Business Principles and Management

This course will provide students with a clear understanding of the characteristics, the organization and the operations of a business; obtain an awareness of the many activities and decisions involved in successfully operating and managing a business; gain an appreciation of the importance of business and management in the US economic system; understand facts, procedures, principles, and concepts needed to become effective members of profit-making and nonprofit organizations.

Prerequisite: Intermediate – Advanced English

TEST PREPARATION COURSES

International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) program at The New America College prepares students for either the Academic or the General International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam. Our program is taught by experienced instructors who familiarize students with the exam, teach test-taking strategies and teach to all four IELTS sections each day. For the best results, we recommend that students take their official International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam immediately upon completing the course.

Our complete International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Preparation Program consists of a total of 720 hours during the course of 10 months.

Prerequisite: Intermediate - Advanced English

TOEFL Preparation Objectives

The TOEFL preparation course will provide students with the skills necessary to successfully answer questions and complete the tasks on the TOEFL iBT test. It will familiarize students with the TOEFL test format as well as teach test-taking skills and strategies for each of the four sections of the TOEFL test: Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening.

Certificate Programs

English Language Acquisition Certificate Programs

ELA1 - Beginner Program
When finished with the Beginner ESL Program, students will be able to use English to speak in basic words and sentences. They will learn pronunciation and be able to communicate in basic situations, such as restaurants, stores and public transportation.

ELA 2- Intermediate Program
When finished with the Intermediate ESL program, students will be able to use English to communicate on their own in many situations. They will be able to communicate in social settings. They will be able to communicate in basic work settings. They will be developing writing skills at the same time.

ELA 3 - Advanced Program
When finished with the Advanced ESL Program, students will communicate effectively in English. They also will have developed advanced listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.

$5000. For the 38-week English Language Acquisition Certificate Programs ($500/month)
