School Introduction
Global English Academy is a private English as a Second Language School (ESL) for adults, located in the heart of Queens in New York City. The School was founded by three dedicated ESL professionals with over forty years of experience among them. The mission of Global English Academy is to provide quality English language instruction to non-native speakers and to help them learn about and become more comfortable with American culture and customs. Global English Academy strives to help students achieve their goals in furthering their education both here and abroad, advancing their careers in this global era and feeling more comfortable living and working in the United States.
As a small private ESL school, we are able to combine the best qualities of both large University-based ESL programs and other private ESL schools. Our teachers have Master’s degrees in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and many years of teaching experience, which enables us to provide the highest quality academic preparation in English. The advantage of our small school setting is that we can provide more personal attention and support to our students. The location of our school in Flushing, Queens in New York City offers a convenient, diverse and multicultural environment in which to study.
Global English Academy is authorized to admit students on F-1 visas.
ESL Program Introduction
Global English Academy offers five unique programs to meet the needs of every student:
The Intensive Academic Program is an 18-hour per week course designed to help students build confidence and achieve fluency and accuracy in English in preparation for further study in undergraduate and graduate level programs in English or for professional use in the United States or abroad. Classes are offered Monday through Friday in the mornings, afternoons or evenings.
The English for Everyone Program offers integrated skills classes in the Evenings and on Saturdays which incorporate grammar, writing, reading, vocabulary and oral skills in order to help students achieve fluency and accuracy in English for their social lives or for professional use in the United States or abroad. Students may choose to study either for 3 hours on Saturday Mornings or for 4 hours on weekday evenings.
The TOEFL iBT Preparation program introduces students to all of the components of the TOEFL iBT exam. Through practice exercises and exams in class, students will become familiar with the tasks required on the exam and will also learn test-taking strategies which will help them improve their scores on the exam. Classes are offered on Saturday afternoons.
The July Program, which runs for the month of July, combines intensive English classes with a chance to go on sightseeing tours around New York City. The tours are led by our own faculty members, so students get the chance to see the sights, learn about the culture of New York and practice their English all at the same time. Classes are offered Monday through Friday in the mornings and sightseeing tours are two afternoons per week.
Offered in both August and January, the Mini-Intensives are 3-week programs that will help you build confidence and improve your fluency in English. The lessons offer instruction in speaking, listening, pronunciation, grammar, writing and reading, with the major focus on communication skills.

Tuition:
Intensive Academic English Program: This program is offered during the week (Monday through Friday). You can register for morning, afternoon or evening classes and there are three options for registration:
Full- time (18 hours per week): $1, 250*
Part-time 1 (10.5 hours per week): $ 730*
Part-time 2 (7.5 hours per week): $ 520*
English for Everyone Program: This program is offered on Saturday mornings. (9 am to 12 pm)
Part-time (3 hours per week): $ 270*
This program is also offered on weekday evenings (7:30 pm to 9:30 pm) for 4 hours per week.
Part-time (4 hours per week): $ 360*
TOEFL iBT Preparation Program: This program is offered on Saturday afternoons. (1 pm to 4 pm)
Part-time (3 hours per week): $ 270*
July Program: 4-week Intensive English plus Sightseeing tours
Full-time (24 hours per week): $ 950*
January/August Mini-Intensive Program:
