Our School

Cranbrook is a leading Australian independent boys’ school. We care passionately about each boy who is entrusted to us for his school days and challenge him to be all that he can be.

Our Values

Our aim is to discover each boy’s potential and develop his strengths. We recognise that the journey towards adulthood is one of the most important that he will take requiring great care guidance and support along every step of the way.

Curriculum

Cranbrook School has a unique Teaching and Learning Framework through which the curriculum is taught in the Senior School and the International Baccalaureate's Primary Years Programme in the Junior School. In the classroom or on the sporting field cranbrook boys develop the capability to think and act in ways that are skilful creative and responsible. The result is an educational experience that is rich and meaningful.

Co-curricular Activities

Cranbrook School offers a comprehensive range of co-curricular programs including a wide range of summer and winter sports drama music chess debating robotics visual arts and a unique outdoor education program. Through voluntary co-curricular activities the School aims to develop important skills in leadership performance creativity decision-making cooperation communication and service.

Pastoral Care Program

Cranbrook’s pastoral care system is based around its unique House system. Importantly the Houses at Cranbrook are not simply structures for organising the School and facilitating inter-House contests. They genuinely promote an environment in which boys feel safe gain a sense of identity at the School and become known and valued as individuals.

Boarding

The boarding experience teaches boys how to live in harmony with others and how to establish a routine so that they can practise sound academic habits. Being a member of the boarding community teaches boys to be independent responsible for themselves and responsible to the group so that they grow into mature and self-reliant young men. Boarding provides ample opportunity to become involved in school life. Sport drama music debating outdoor education House activities and the chance to make life-long friends are just some of the myriad opportunities available to Cranbrook boarders. The Boarding Housemasters and Tutors at Cranbrook are mentors and role models: those ‘significant adults’ who are critically important to the emotional and social well-being of adolescent boys.
