International Online Health EconomicsCurtin University Graduate Programs
These courses in Health Economics represent an exciting new venture – the
first of its kind in the world.
They are an international (largely on-line) distance learning program in
health economics for (primarily non-economist) health care professionals and
researchers. The courses do not
require any time in Australia; they can be done wholly at a distance.
With ever increasing demands on health care resources, there has in recent
years been a growing awareness of the role of health economics in informing
policy in the health care sector.
Throughout the world, health authorities, hospitals, government departments
and other bodies, charged with the responsibility of the financing,
provision and evaluation of health services, have increasingly turned to
health economics to assist in their decision making.
The Director of the Course is Professor Gavin Mooney.
Gavin has been working in health economics for 30 years and, with over 200
publications and 15 books to his name, he has an international reputation as
a health economist. He is also
a highly respected educator and has previously directed distance learning
courses in health economics in the Nordic countries and the UK (both for
non-economists) and an international course based in Tromso in Norway for
economists.
