Our curriculum is a carefully constructed path which leads girls to academic success now and into the future. It also facilitates the development of that confident inner person who has the strength of character and resolve to succeed in endeavours throughout their lifetime. The concept of curriculum differentiation underpins the teaching at all levels at Korowa. Here one size does not fit all. We recognise that within each classroom there will be many different learning needs styles and abilities. Therefore we provide multiple options and pathways for learning to occur - through the curriculum we deliver and the methods we use. Our ELC (3 and 4 year old program) curriculumis influenced by the principles of the Reggio Emilia educational project from Northern Italy. We support children's efforts to construct meaning from the world around them by drawing on their prior knowledge providing inspiration through new experiences and providing time and opportunity for reflection and consolidation. Our Junior School (Prep to Year 5) is focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer both in and outside of the classroom. We pay particularly sharp attention to fundamental literacy and numeracy skills. We offer a unique Middle School (Yr 6-8) curriculum that in addition to a diverse core curriculum offers two Korowa-only subjects that focus on the student's role as a learner. Students also enrich their core studies through undertaking independent project-based research covering real-world issues such as civics and citizenship and financial literacy. This provides a strong foundation for VCE where students can choose from around 40 subjects as well as Vocational Education and Training (VET) options. From Year 9 Highly able students can commence accelerating their study program enabling them to undertake university level subjects during VCE. Extension activities are offered at all year levels. Beyond the Classroom From homework clubs to sporting activities; from outdoor adventures to social service - there is always a lot going on beyond the classroom at Korowa. At Korowa we recognise that some of life's most important and lasting lessons are learned outside of the classroom. Our rich extracurricular offerings provide outlets for students to nurture and grow their existing talents and explore new ones while making friends with students who share their interests. With programs in the arts sports clubs and community service Korowa students have a multitude of extracurricular options that are not only fun but also serve to develop confidence and build leadership and teamwork skills. In addition we provide an infrastructure which supports student learning and facilitates parent interaction with the School. Our comprehensive approach to education includes a student welfare program which provides an overarching framework for all of our interactions with students and their families. We provide a range of services and facilities aimed at assisting families to meet the demands of everyday life.
