Study Nursing in AustraliaNursing and Midwifery at USQNursing is a profession concerned with caring for the health and well-being of individuals, families, groups and communities. Nurses support and enhance human functioning by establishing helping, trusting relationships and by using a variety of therapeutic nursing measures to promote the physical, psychological, social and spiritual health of people. The primary purpose of the Department of Nursing at USQ is to prepare graduates in nursing to assume responsible roles as health care providers and as community members. The Department values and seeks to develop student integrity, breadth of perspective, compassion, knowledge and skill by providing an educational environment and professional freedom which is conducive to intellectual, social and cultural development, whilst endorsing the crucial links between research and practice. The Department was established in 1989, and since its inception has developed courses for pre-registration, post-registration and postgraduate students.
