St Luke's Grammar School is an independent Anglican co-educational school for students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 situated on Sydney's Northern Beaches. St Luke's Grammar School aims to educate develop and inspire its students to make a difference in the world. Since its establishment in 1993 st Luke's Grammar School has built a reputation for academic excellence pastoral care of students and for developing the whole child. First and foremost the School is based on a solid Christian foundation with an unwavering desire to provide a place where students staff and parents can express and explore the Christian faith. St Luke's Grammar School also places a significant focus on Academic Excellence seeking to challenge each student to reach their greatest potential and supplying them with the skills necessary for the world beyond the School gate. Lastly st Luke’s remains steadfast in its commitment to Pastoral Care. The School promotes the resilience and the well-being of students and encourages staff and parents to work in partnership to support students as they develop into well-rounded individuals. The last five years has seen significant growth in demand which is setting the School up well for the future. St Luke’s with approximately 950 students continues to strive to be the school of first choice on the Northern Beaches. Going forward the 2012 – 2017 Strategic Plan reinforces the strategies in place for continuing the strong momentum gained in recent years. The Junior School at St Luke's Grammar School from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 6 caters for 400 boys and girls (2 classes per grade with approximately 25 students per class) enabling teachers to focus on each individual child to ensure they feel valued and connected. Junior School students then gain automatic entry to the 4-stream Senior School (Years 7 12) where the focus of the experienced and professional teachers is to add value to the learning outcomes of an additional 550 students as they work towards their HSC and prepare for life beyond the School gate.

Facilities

This year has seen the completion of an extensive building and refurbishment program resulting in a totally transformed school which includes four brand new state-of-the-art Science Laboratories over 20 fully refurbished classrooms cutting edge technology and climate controlled rooms. Other recent changes have included new outdoor sporting facilities new art classrooms new student bathrooms and upgraded landscaping and walkways. Curriculum - Junior School

St Luke's Grammar School Cottage has a 3 day Pre-Kindergarten Program which features: • English – pre-reading pre-writing talking and listening. • Mathematics – to develop children’s thinking understanding competence and confidence with numbers shapes patterns and measurement. • Creative Arts – Providing children with experiences in visual art music drama and dance. • Personal Development Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) – children develop the necessary knowledge skills and attitudes to lead active fulfilling and healthy lives. • Specialist Lessons – children have weekly lessons with specialist teachers in Indonesian christian Studies physical Education and Library. • Technology (ICT) – the use of technology is introduced and used to reinforce Literacy and Numeracy during developmental play time. Years K–6: The Junior School follows the Board of Studies Key Learning Areas with a special emphasis on numeracy and literacy. The children have a broad and varied academic curriculum in English mathematics Human Society and its Environment creative and Practical Arts science and Technology personal Development Health and Physical Education. In addition students have specialist teachers in Indonesian christian Studies gymnastics physical Education and Music. Exciting programs in swimming and music are also provided.

Sports and Extra-Curricular Activities

St Luke's Grammar School offers Basketball tennis swimming netball softball gymnastics rugby Union athletics cross-Country weights Training WAter Polo cricket baseball volleyball soccer squash plus beach and water sports. There is no compulsory Saturday sport. St Luke’s also has representative teams in Sailing snow Sports and Equestrian. Information Technology Facilities

Computers are seen as important part of an integrated curriculum as well as an important subject in their own right. The School has 4 newly upgraded dedicated computer laboratories incorporating Pentium scanning multimedia and high speed Internet facilities. More recently the School has introduced Wireless reception with trolleys of laptops available for use in most classrooms. The Science labs and library have their own facilities. All classrooms in the Junior and Middle School have Inter-Active Whiteboards as do all specialist areas in the Senior School.
