Established in 1951, it is the oldest and largest English-language school in Brussels, with over 1480 students from nearly 70 countries worldwide. The school is guided by a powerful mission that commits the entire learning community to the values of inclusion, challenge and success for everyone. The curriculum incorporates international standards of excellence and provides a context for learning in which each child can be happy, grow in understanding and confidently move on to further education. At each level, the curriculum is delivered by highly-trained and dedicated teachers, supported by leading edge technology and set within outstanding facilities. To students for whom English is not their first language, comprehensive English as a Second Language support is offered. Likewise, for students who learn differently, ISB has developed a model learning support programme for students with mild to severe challenges. The programme is driven by an inclusive philosophy. Sport, the expressive arts and modern languages play a major part in school life. ISB has the largest competitive sports programme in Europe, but is equally committed to the concept of 'sport for all', offering a wide range of co-curricular and intra-mural activities. There is also a wide range of extra-curricula activities available to both students and adult members of the school community. To measure the school's success, the school uses the International Schools Assessment programme, providing us with the evidence of students' achievements compared to students in other high-performing schools. The IB Diploma and AP programme are offered in the High School. Ninety-five percent of ISB graduates continue to higher education in colleges and universities across the world. ISB is accredited by the Council of International Schools and the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. |
