Canadore College is a small, government-funded college located in the
City of North Bay, in the province of Ontario, Canada. Each year,
approximately 3, 000 full time students enroll in over 75 different
diploma programs, with another 3, 000 people attending part-time. All of
our diploma programs are approved by the provincial Ministry of
Education and Training. In addition, we have a Summer School of Arts and
Technology, which attracts over 800 people from around the world during
the month of July each year.
Canadore College is one of the most beautiful colleges in Ontario, with
three campuses located within fifteen minutes of each other. The College
Drive Campus is located on a 450 hectare wooded escarpment overlooking
the City of North Bay. The new $12.5 million Aviation Centre houses the
unique cluster of Aviation programs and the Commerce Court Campus is a
new, up-to-date technical training facility.
We have the only campus in Canada where a college and university share
facilities. This means that students have more opportunities to take
advantage of both of the educational systems in the province. Several of
our programs have agreements where students may transfer from a college
program directly into an upper year of a university degree program. The
library at the College Drive Campus is world class with information
technology and research capability usually found only at large
universities.
Here in the beautiful city of North Bay, just 330km north of Toronto,
you'll discover three easily accessible campuses. Within the walls of
our campuses, you'll find a personalized environment where you can excel
in smaller than average classes and where you'll have your own academic
advisor. A place where every applicant has access to career counselling
and our graduates get jobs.
At Canadore, you'll discover an exhilarating environment packed with
activities and social events that will round out your education and make
your college years more exciting and memorable. Participate in frosh
week, a joint event run by the Canadore Students Representative Council
and the Nipissing University Student Union, where new students are
introduced to college life and to each other in an action packed
orientation week. Visit The Wall Bar & Grillhouse, a great place to
relax and unwind with friends. The Wall features a full roadhouse type
menu and many exciting events and concerts.
Canadore students are also encouraged to participate in more than 40
different athletic and recreation programs - everything from intramural
sports to whitewater rafting, snowboarding and horseback riding. Panther
extramural and varsity sports include cricket, golf, fastball,
volleyball, soccer, hockey and basketball.
Each year, 3, 000 students enjoy
the Canadore experience small class sizes and direct access to faculty
and support services, including an Aboriginal Learning Unit and a strong
special needs department. We also boast one of the most beautiful
campuses in the country.
At Canadore, we are committed to growing to meet the needs of our
students that's why we have opened a new residence in 2004 to
complement our existing townhouse-style residences, and why we are
continually adding new programs.
Canadore students also have a unique opportunity to turn their college
diploma into a university degree. Canadore shares a campus with
Nipissing University and the two schools have a formal agreement, which
provides degree completion opportunities for all diploma graduates.
We also pride ourselves in preparing our students to meet the needs of
the workforce and We're doing a good job. A recent study shows that
86% of employers were very satisfied/satisfied with the skills of the
graduates they hired.
Student success means more than just grades and employment though; it's
also about enjoying your college years. College is about developing
lasting friendships and experiencing student life, whether through
student clubs, social outings, recreation or athletic activities.
Canadore offers a wonderful academic environment to begin your college
career, restart your education or acquire skills to meet today's
workplace needs. We encourage you to learn more about our college and
look forward to welcoming you as a student next year!
