Academic
Support Program
The
CCOHS Academic Support Program is offered exclusively to universities
and colleges as both a tool to educate students about environmental and
occupational health and safety and as a guide to assist Universities and
Colleges in their efforts to achieve a safe and healthy working
environment.
Educational
institutions that participate in the program pay an annual subscription
fee based on the number of full time students:
Level A up to
50, 000 full time students = $ 1000
Level B 50, 000
to 100, 000 full time students = $ 2000
Level
C over 100, 000 full time students = $ 3000
*Canadian dollars
in Canada, US dollars elsewhere
This fee provides
unlimited access to CCOHS databases and technical support.

English and French, directly from suppliers and manufacturers.

Detailed
profiles of more than 1, 300 important workplace chemicals,
including health, fire and reactivity hazards and safe work

|
More
than 175, 000 citations on safety and industrial hazards, produced
by the CanadaHealth and Safety Executive

OSHLINE
with NIOSHTIC
|
This
authoritative, up-to-date CCOHS bibliographic database, packaged
together with NIOSHTIC, covers more than 100 years of
international OSH-related literature

RTECS
|
Providing
students with critical toxicological information with citations
from more than 2, 500 international journals, textbooks, technical
reports, scientific proceedings and compendia.

CHEMINDEX
|
CCOHS'
free, convenient guide to information resources on over 200, 000
chemicals.

Thousands
of searchable full-text documents on chemical risks and sound
management of chemicals from international bodies, helping
countries fulfil their commitments under the United Nations
Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) Agenda 21,
Chapter 19.

these databases provide information on a broad range of environmental
and occupational health and safety topics.

System
Requirements
Your organization
may access the databases either via WWW or on CD-ROM. If you choose WWW,
you will access the databases on CCOHS' server. If you choose CD-ROM,
you must install the CD-ROMs on your organization's network. System
requirements for CD-ROM installations follow:
CD-ROM Network
These
databases will be delivered on a series of CD-ROMs. They can be
installed on any network (preferably Windows NT or Novell). These
products can run on Macintosh; (PowerPC), Windows 95 or greater and
Windows NT systems.
CD-ROMs Only
You
will require multiple CD-ROM players and approximately 10 MB of network
hard drive space. Contact CCOHS Client Services for exact number of
CD-ROM players required.
Network
Drive Only (copy all CD-ROMs onto a network drive) Contact CCOHS Client
Services for approximate amount of hard disk space required.
Mix and Match
If an institution
has a mixture of unused CD-ROM players and unused network hard disk
space, it can install some discs in the CD-ROM players and copy the
content of others to the network hard disk. Contact CCOHS Client
Services for approximate amount of hard disk space required.
Institutions can
copy one or more of the CD-ROMs to their network hard drive and leave
the remaining databases for access from CD-ROM player(s).
