English Requirements Students with IELTS 6 or TOEFL iBT 80 will receive an unconditional
letter of acceptance and may proceed to a full academic load of 5
courses per semester. Students who have completed English 12/90 in
Canada or completed our English Language Training program also meet
the English requirements for academic programs. Students with no TOEFL/IELTS or less than our minimum score will
receive a conditional letter of acceptance. Students who are
conditionally accepted must take our English Language Assessment
when they first arrive. The results of this test will determine if
a student must first complete English Language Training or if the
student can proceed directly to a full academic load.
English Language Training The
ESL program schedule consists of about 22 hours per week of classes
offered in the mornings and afternoons on weekdays. Courses are
integrated to include all areas of language (grammar, writing,
reading, listening and speaking). Classes are relaxed and teachers
encourage student interaction in all classes. The program is
multi-level. During the Fall and Winter semesters, students in the
top level of the ESL program may take up to two academic courses
with Canadian students for audit or credit (number of courses
allowed depends on level) for no extra tuition fee. Students who
complete the ESL program may take university level courses offered
at the College and may proceed to high school level English (English
80 and English 90) offered here.
