B.C.'s Catholic Liberal Arts College at UBC

Corpus Christi College, B.C.'s Catholic Liberal Arts College at UBC, has made tremendous progress since opening its doors in September, 1999. The College's location on the campus of western Canada's largest university means our students enjoy the best of both worlds: small, student-centered classes taught by fully-qualified instructors committed to the Catholic mission statement of the College, as well as access to the world-class library, recreational, and residential facilities of UBC.

In April, 2001, Corpus Christi received full accreditation from PPSEC, the province's Private Post Secondary Education Commission. This recognition follows official approval from the University Presidents' Council achieved in June, 2000 and Corpus Christi now stands as the only Independent Catholic undergraduate College in the Province recognized by B.C.'s public universities and colleges. We currently offer our own first and second year liberal arts program that is fully recognized by B.C.'s public post-secondary institutions, including UBC and UVIC. Our students can now take up to 69 credits in English, History, Catholic Studies, Communications, Philosophy, Mathematics, Geography, and the History of Science, and we are committed to expanding the curriculum as student enrolment grows.

Corpus Christi is also a full-fledged member of the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities of Canada (ACCUC), the prestigious group that represents Canada's leading Catholic institutions of higher education. ACCUC membership brings the College national and international exposure in Catholic educational circles, operating as the official liaison to the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops, to Canadian public institutions of higher education, to the American Catholic Colleges and Universities, and to the International Federation of Catholic Universities.

We are pleased that so many significant doors were opened at Corpus Christi during the Jubilee year, and we all look forward to a future committed to developing a program of academic excellence within a community of Catholic faith. Corpus Christi College will continue to serve as a beacon for Catholic students at UBC, while working with St. Mark's and the Basilian Fathers towards the ultimate goal of establishing a fully independent, four-year Catholic University in B.C.
