Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts Canada
Mission Statement
To
provide students with the highest quality training in the "culinary
arts" and "baking and pastry arts" in order to fully prepare them for
"entry level" employment in the hospitality industry and; to provide the
hospitality industry with a source of well trained graduates for hiring
into their "entry level" positions and; to have our graduates represent
the Institute in the finest restaurants and hotels around the world.
Demand for
Professional Chefs Rise Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts has experienced the increased demand for training in the culinary and baking and pastry, as have many other culinary schools. To accommodate a year long waiting period for their students, Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts chose to maintain their reputed small classes by expanding their facilities. In 2003, the Institute doubled its space. A 105 seat restaurant,
with a view of the marina and mountains, a storefront
bakeshop and cafe, a wedding cake kitchen, a chocolate studio and eight
commercial kitchens (including a catering kitchen) now encompass 13, 000
sq. ft.
The profile of a
Canadian or International student attending Pacific Institute of
Culinary Arts ranges from high school graduate to career change, each
with a love for cooking and/or baking. Career change represent 60 per
cent of Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts' students. Career change
graduates are more often seeking an entrepreneurial career, whereas
other graduates are choosing to begin their careers in restaurants and
hotels throughout the world. Others choose catering, personal chef on
yachts, hotels and restaurants throughout Canada, the U.S. and the
world.
Two
full time six month professional programs are offered at PICA, Culinary
Arts and Baking and Pastry Arts, with a maximum class size of 15 students
