has many opportunities for students of every age and background to study English

our many fine educational institutions. In addition, for many decades we have been
teaching these languages to students from all parts of the world. As a result, Canadian universities and colleges have developed a great deal of expertise
and experience in the delivery of language training. The Council of Second Language Programs in Canada (CSLPC/CPLSC) is an
association of post secondary institutions offering intensive language training in either
French or English as a second language. or both. All members are public institutions
recognized by the Ministries of Education in each province. The principle objectives of the Council are the promotion of the English and French pro-
grams of its members - both in Canada and abroad - and the assurance of quality language
programs and teaching excellence. The members conform to the standards of excellence de- fined by the general assembly
and supervised by the board of directors. The guidelines of the Council require members
to provide a precise description of their programs, an effective means of evaluation,
