BNU-HKBU United International College Hong KongAn Innovative International Liberal Arts College in China BNU-HKBU United International College (UIC), jointly founded by Beijing Normal University and Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), is the first full-scale cooperation in higher education between Mainland China and Hong Kong. From its first enrollment in 2005 UIC has distinguished itself in innovative educational approaches. Seventeen undergraduate programmes are offered by three divisions: namely, the Division of Business and Management, the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the Division of Science and Technology. There are 4, 000 students, including those from Hong Kong, Macau, China and other countries. Teaching staff from more than 20 countries and regions make it possible for UIC to use English as the medium of instruction. Transfer students may be accepted in some subject areas. Graduates will be awarded Bachelor Degrees by HKBU. Location The College is situated in Zhuhai, an ecological and cultural city on the Pearl River Delta only 45 minutes from Macau or 70 minutes by ferry from Hong Kong. Direct ferry is available from Hong Kong International Airport to Zhuhai. Zhuhai Airport operates flights to/from Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing and other cities in China. Internationalization UIC has established cooperation with universities/colleges from Asian countries, Australia, Canada, UK and USA. The curriculum design of UIC parallels that of other liberal arts colleges. Over 70% faculty members come from English-speaking and other countries, and, together with overseas students, reflect a pluralistic campus culture. International cooperation and student exchanges, overseas summer refresher courses and volunteer work are available to students, providing rich cross-cultural experiences and international perspectives. Accommodation All students stay in residence halls on campus. The rooms in the Student Hostels Cultural Village are fully furnished and equipped with a private bathroom, air conditioner and internet connection. Zhuhai is an affordable and beautiful city in which to work and study. Facilities and Welfare The Learning Resources Centre provides access to modern library services and facilities. Mentor caring provides guidance services and support on personal growth and development. The Student Union offers activities, recommendations and support through student associations, academic societies, student hostel councils and interest clubs. Student counseling offers diverse psychological counseling services and advice on academic and personal issues. The International Development Office can help students with visa application.
