Teach English in China

Foreign Teachers are Needed at Our College

Our college lies in the Southern part of China, in the city of Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province. It's about a 25 minutes flight or 3 hour bus ride from Hong Kong. The college is only 10 years old, but it has developed rapidly. We are very proud that it's one of the best ones among the private colleges in China and we are confident that in the future it will be “the Harvard” of China. We have the largest campus area, the most foreign teachers, the best villas designed specially for the foreign teachers...anyway you will be satisfied with both the facilities and the efficient administration. You will never forget this ''one time but lifelong'' experience at our college.

All the teachers work under a contract that runs from September 1, 2003 to June 30, 2004. The teachers work ten months and get paid for ten months. According to the contract, the teachers are expected to teach about 20 classes a week. Each class is about 45 minutes long. Each teacher is required to join the English corner once a week, about one and a half hours. Regardless what the contract says, most of the teachers have a lot of free time of their own and they always enjoy spending their time playing, eating, and chatting with the students.

The pay is in RMB - the money used in China. One U.S. dollar is equivalent to about RMB 8.3. The monthly pay is from 3500 Yuan to 4000 Yuan (RMB)---according to qualification, education, and your resume. Besides the regular pay, each one will get an allowance of RMB 500 for food and RMB 500 for utilities (gas, electricity, and telephone calls). If you stay over for a second year, there may be a small increase of salary. All the teachers can get their salary, RMB, exchanged to USD at a fair rate.

We have several cafeterias on campus. Most students and teachers eat there. There are several restaurants too, or teachers can cook at home. All the cooking utensils are provided by our college. You can buy fresh food in the market in a small town to which you can take our school bus, a five-minute ride, or you ride a bicycle.

The salary sounds like very little money. However, considering the low cost of living in China, the money can go very far. Most teachers cannot spend all the RMB 1000 Yuan allowance for their daily living. The rest can all be saved for their holiday needs. This kind of saving cannot be achieved by most of the graduates in U.S. during their first job.

Most teachers in the past managed to take one to two long trips in China plus one trip to Southeast Asia, seeing countries like Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia or India. We also provide teachers with two free trips in Guangdong province. We bear all the expenses for the traveling, like transportation, accommodations, meals, etc. All the teachers are quite satisfied with this.

Any religious activities are forbidden by law and teachers will definitely get into trouble if they try to organize anything related to religion. For the consideration of acceptance of the teaching positions, we need following documents from the teachers:

1: a photocopy of your passport (the page with your personal information: photo, birth date, birthplace, etc.)

2: a copy of your education diploma

3: a simple medical report (just a simple one with your doctor's signature, stating you are in good health)

4: a copy of your resume

5: the contract (you can download from the website, and sign it)

6: a current photograph.
