Ten years later a Junior School was established, and in 1993 the two schools merged to provide a complete Pre-K through IB educational program. The school currently has 600 students. The school is recognized and subsidized by the Danish State and is governed by an 11-member School Board. It is accredited by CoIS and NEASC and was a founding member of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Pupils in MYP 2-5 have a curriculum taught by specialist teachers. The program comprises language arts, maths, science, computers, social studies, French or German, Danish, art, physical education, library and music. French and German are taught in MYP and DP. English-as-an-Additional-Language is taught in small groups throughout all grades. The program of studies is academic and leads to an IB Diploma. In the school's final two years all students study for the International Baccalaureate Diploma and can take art, biology, chemistry, Danish A and B, English A1 and A2, French B, German B, history, economics, mathematics, physics, computer science, social anthropology, and theatre arts. Participation in cultural, athletic and service activities is encouraged. There is a great range of activities abroad on offer: NECIS sports competitions throughout Northern Europe; drama festivals held in many countries; the Model United Nations Conference in The Hague and charity trips to Peru and Africa. All staff members are fully qualified and experienced. In the Diploma years a research-based Masters' degree is a requisite for teaching. Upon graduation, 96% of students go to universities in the US, UK, Denmark or their home country. The school year runs from mid-August to mid-June. Extra curricular activities center around drama, charity, computers, yearbook, journalism, art, sport, music, Model UN and outdoor club. The cultural and historical features of Copenhagen are utilized to provide constant enhancement of the programs. The school is 15 minutes from the centre of Copenhagen and 30 minutes from the airport with easy access to greater Copenhagen by train.
