The age range of the school is 4-18/Gr K-12. ISH opened its 12th grade in the fall of 1993. Founded in 1963, the school is administered by a Board of Governors elected annually by the Association of Parents. The school offers a broad-based IB curriculum with the emphasis on the development of learning skills in an attempt to accommodate the variety of educational backgrounds from which the children are drawn. The school is fully authorized to offer all three programmes of the International Baccalaureate; the Primary Years Program, the Middle Years Program and the Diploma Program. The student body is comprised of individuals from 42 countries. All grades meet from Monday to Friday between 08: 45 and 15: 20. The school year runs from mid-August to early June. After-school clubs are offered in a variety of activities. The school moved to its new purpose-built facility in August 1996. There are 25 classrooms, two science labs, two computer labs with networking and Internet access, an art suite with darkroom/kiln, a music suite, cafeteria/auditorium, full-size gymnasium, library with 15, 000 texts, and neighbouring sports field. The school is open to any child of appropriate age from any nation who could benefit from the education offered. |
