Learning Support Programme
Established in 1968, the International School of Dusseldorf is an independent, co-educational day school serving the needs of students from 51 countries. The sixteen-acre campus is situated a short walk from the Rhine in the beautiful, historic suburb of Kaiserswerth. School buildings are spacious, modern, and well-equipped. Art studios, purpose-built music teaching rooms, practice rooms and a 400 seat theatre support an extensive visual and performing arts program. Currently most classrooms in the elementary school and many in the senior school are equipped with interactive whiteboards, the first stage of an ambitious information technology development program.
Two gymnasiums and three football fields support a comprehensive physical education and competitive sports program. School teams compete regularly in local and international competitions. Adult teams of faculty and parents compete in local soccer, basketball and volleyball competitions.
An emphasis on contemporary teaching methodology is underpinned by an extensive professional development program, small classes and a creative, enthusiastic and committed faculty. Together, faculty, students and parents form a learning community with a clear commitment to continuous improvement.
The rigorous academic program is complemented by an extensive counseling and pastoral care program, as well as ESL and learning support, and on-site medical facilities. Over 95% of graduating students gain admission to universities.
A strong development program includes extensive community and worldwide representation. Students experience community service both locally and at projects in Africa, Europe and Asia.
The school carries full accreditation through the Council of International Schools and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, and is fully authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate’s PYP, MYP and Diploma programs.
