The school offers a comprehensive international education program from Pre-school through Grade 12. AISC is a member of the near East South Asia Council of Overseas Schools (NESA), the Association for the Advancement of International Education (AAIE) and is fully accredited by both the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the Middle States Association (MSA). AISC is housed in a 12.75-acre, purpose-built campus on the outskirts of Chennai. The campus, inaugurated in July 2003, comprises 86 air-conditioned classrooms, three science labs, two music rooms, two computer labs, two art studios, foreign languages department, ESL complex and special needs suite and black box theatre. Other facilities include a library, health office, cafeteria, 25-metre swimming pool, air-conditioned sports complex containing basketball, volleyball and badminton courts, fitness room, covered recreation area and tennis courts, soccer field and athletics tracks. The campus is fully compliant with all international building codes, US educational standards and the American Disabilities Act, and offers one of the finest learning facilities in southern India. AISC follows an American college preparatory curriculum, based on AERO standards, with English language instruction by US, third-country and host country faculty. At the middle school level, Drama and Communication, Cultural Studies of India and Computer Studies are offered as exploratory courses. The College Board Advanced Placement Program and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program area offered alongside the regular high school program. French and Spanish are taught from Grade 4 up and intensive English-as-a-second-language programs are provided for non-native English speakers. Specialist teachers provide instruction in computer studies, art, music, health and physical education and special learning needs. Community service is a requirement for graduation. Through membership of SAISA (South Asia Inter Scholastic Association), AISC students compete in sports tournaments against other regional international schools. Annually AISC sponsors Chennai’s first high school soccer and basketball leagues, in which other Chennai schools participate. There is a full after-school activities program for KG-Grade 12 and a Youth Sports Program for elementary students.
