Study English at Centre of English Studies (CES)
Ireland
Centre of English Studies (CES) has three year round English language
schools based in Dublin, London and Worthing. CES offers the full range
of English language courses for both Adult and Junior students.
CES History
Established in 1979, CES/Swandean School of English has over 27 years
experience and is one of the leading English language schools in Europe.
During this time we have gained an international reputation for the care
and attention that all of our clients receive. Over the last 30 years
CES/Swandean has helped thousands of students from the four corners of
the world improve their English language skills and abilities by helping
them to achieve their language passport to their future. We offer a
wide range of professional English language courses in a warm, friendly
and caring atmosphere.
CES/Swandean has welcomed learners from over 55 countries and from all
cultures. Many students come back to study with us several times - the
majority have been referred to us by their friends and family who have
previously attended one of our courses. This undoubtedly confirms the
very high standard of our programmes and services.
Our courses and programmes are very carefully designed to meet the needs
of the modern learner. We are acutely aware that a good knowledge of
English is essential in today's business and academic world. During
your stay with us you will have the opportunity to practise your
language skills in the school, in shops, in your homestay and with
students of many different nationalities.
CES/Swandean has three year round schools in Ireland and England.
Our DUBLIN school is located in the very heart of Dublin
on the same street as Trinity College and Dublin Castle. We have two
prestigious buildings within two minutes walk of each other and a
short stroll will take you to the cobbled quadrangle
of Trinity College or the Georgian splendour of Dublin Castle. The schools are surrounded by all of the best shops,
restaurants and cultural attractions.
Both teaching centres are imposing buildings within the boundaries of
medieval Dublin. Dame Court has been renovated to the highest of
international standards and its strong bright colours make the
classrooms and leisure areas fresh and vibrant, allowing you to feel
relaxed and comfortable at all times.
We have a total of 25 pristine classrooms, all with facilities for tape
recorders, TV and video. Our multi media centre has the most up-to-date
technology and software with free broadband Internet access, WiFi and
personal laptop access points. A listening centre and self-access study
library are available and a teacher is on duty every afternoon for
advice and guidance on additional study. We can also help you prepare
for an exam in your own country.
We at CES/Swandean know that a comfortable
environment and caring staff are essential to effective language
learning.
Our reception area in the entrance hall doubles as a booking office for
tours and activities and students are encouraged to join in the visits
and in the fun don t make the mistake of missing out on what CES/Swandean
and Dublin have to offer!
Our basement area has a cafeteria that provides light snacks and
drinks. It is the ideal environment to stay and chat to friends after a
busy day and our leisure area with plasma screen TV provides up-to-date
news throughout the day plus a movie every afternoon.
Our academic team is here to help and guide you for the duration of your
stay with us.
The School Manager and Director of Studies are easily accessible to our
clients so it is easy to make an appointment if you have any learning
worries or need any study advice.
Academic Staff
CES/Swandean Schools of English take great pride in the high quality and
motivation of our academic team. The Director of Studies, in each
school, is available to give you advice and help during your course and
after you return home.
All our teachers are TEFL-qualified university graduates with CELTA or
above in the UK. Our trainers have extensive experience of teaching
multinational classes and dealing with the learning difficulties and
demands of students from many different cultural backgrounds. We have a
policy of continuous in-service training to keep our staff at the
forefront of English language training.
Our teachers are chosen not only for their qualifications and experience
but also for their enthusiasm, positive attitude and their ability to
make language-learning fun.
Your first day
When you arrive at CES/Swandean on your first day, a member of staff
will help you register, then you take a multiple-choice and writing test
to help us determine your exact level of English followed by a short
oral test with our Director of Studies. A senior member of staff will
give you an introductory talk about studying at CES/Swandean and outline
the Social Programme for you. You will receive a welcome letter,
information pack and student card, before joining your class after the
mid-morning break. Regular meetings with your teacher and our Director
of Studies will keep you focused on the areas you need to work on.
Facilities
Self-access study is an important part of our programme so all schools
have a multi media centre with broadband Internet and e-mail access.
The most up-to-date video, DVD and cassette materials are available in
our self-access centre, where our centre co-ordinator can help you
choose the right materials. There are also listening stations and a
self-study library, to guide you through to a higher level.
Highly effective learning technology
Most CES and Swandean/CES Schools are equipped with a dedicated
multimedia centre where you can work on your language needs, improve
your pronunciation, sharpen your listening and work on examination
practice tests.
