It offers an academically challenging curriculum for grades 10 through high school graduation. The academic program is designed to qualify for admission to Canadian, American, UK and international institutions. CCI is a semestered school. The first semester runs from August 24 to December 18 , the second from January 24 to June 7. There are final examinations at the end of each semester. The students follow a rigorous academic program in preparation for university. All courses with the exception of foreign language courses are taught in English. The teachers are Ontario-certified and are selected for expertise in their field and commitment to the extracurricular life of the school. The school is inspected annually by the Ministry of Education and Training of Ontario, Canada. In the classroom, students enjoy an extremely low pupil teacher ratio; the average class size is fifteen, the largest class is 20. All graduates pursue post-secondary studies and most will be studying in a university setting in Canada, the USA or Britain. Extra-curricular activities include several sports such as skiing, soccer and volleyball, together with ecology, cooking and fitness clubs. There is a Student Council, exchange programs with Italian high schools, a yearbook committee and the opportunity for some students to play on regional sports teams. Travel to many different parts of Italy is an important part of the school program. Field trips take students to major centres - Florence, Rome, Venice, Ischia, Amalfi Coast, as well as more local places such as Assisi, Spoleto, L'Aquila and the Tremiti Islands. These trips provide an enriching experience for students and support for academic programs. The student body is primarily North American with about one third whose families are expatriates living in Europe. Students come from a variety of backgrounds and a number of students are on scholarship or bursary. |
