Our limited class sizes support inquiry-based learning and achievement, and lessons use a transdisciplinary approach. An additional one hour of Italian each day assures full integration within the local context. Mandarin Chinese is taught in elementary grades twice weekly. Apple "One-to-One" technology is supported by the use of iPads in our elementary classrooms. An array of extra-curricular afternoon clubs completes the day. Located in the municipality of Botticino, the school serves the entire Brescia area, extending from the Lake of Garda to the Lake of Iseo. Built in the 17th century, the school building was most recently used as a Catholic seminary. The facilities incude 1,100 square meters of refurbished space that includes five full-size classrooms (each featuring Smartboard technology), an indoor play facility, library, sleep-room, and dining hall. Brescia is Italy’s third largest industrial region, with an economy supported by small- and medium-size specialized enterprises dependent upon international trade and commercial interests. The students’ parents place a high value on their children’s international education, realizing the importance of both the English/Italian/Chinese language training and the challenging instruction that are given. Parents expect and the school’s services provide a regimen of lessons and activities that emphasize student academic abilities, interpersonal communication, and social involvement. IS Brescia’s school year runs from September to June. Admission is based upon the submission of student report card grades and certificates from previous schools attended, vaccination records, and other relevant documents. |
