It is authorized as a private school by the Italian Ministry of Education. It offers the international community a unique educational choice from PreSchool through grade 12 with an American based curriculum. The school currently enrolls approximately 300 students from preschool to the 12th grade, coming from 16 nationalities. Taking into account the need for students coming from very diverse backgrounds, cultures, and educational systems, the School offers a variety of additional courses tailored to allow students to seamlessly transit back into the educational systems of their nations. The school follows a standard American college preparatory curriculum with additional specialized classes for the Italian State Exams. There is a program of extra-curricular activities including sports, art, music, modern dance, newspaper, yearbook and drama. The teaching staff is experienced and certified in their grade level or subject area. There are specialists in music, art, physical education, ESL and computer science. Most of the faculty have advanced degrees. Sixty percent of the student body is from the NATO community while the rest is comprised of local international businesses and nationals. With 16 nationalities represented, ISN offers a very international atmosphere. The school is located on the NATO base, on the outskirts of Naples with easy access by road and public transport. The school is accommodated in newly refurbished buildings which include computer and science laboratories, a multipurpose room and a library. The facilities encompass the use of the sports field, gymnasium and tennis courts. The school year begins in September and runs until the middle of June with breaks for Christmas, ski-week, Easter and the national holidays. Classes are from 08: 00 to 15: 00, Monday to Friday. Admission is based upon an entrance exam and evaluation of records from a student's previous school. |
